The definition of a Day-boarding
center is incomplete if it only
refers to a place which provides
child care services involving a
feeding, napping and a playing
schedule for the children, without
emphasizing on a strategically prepared
age-appropriate Learning & Development
GOALS!!
Spending a substantial portion
of my life in different parts of
USA when my two kids were in their
early childhood development and
learning stage, I was exposed to a
very different approach of care &
learning style for infants, toddlers
and preschoolers which was quite different
from my native land.
The goals for the
children of both the countries or for
that matter to any parents are definitely
similar- everyone wants their child to
be Knowledgeable and Successful!! The
difference is about the absence in
one and about the presence in another
of these essential elements of Early
Childhood Development & Learning:
Observation, Documentation, Assessment,
Evalution and Responsive.
The word OBSERVATION is a Verb not a Noun—that means it’s a continuous process, not a stagnant state. Observation does involves looking- BUT its beyond just looking. It involves active engagement. So, OBSERVATION is the ability to comprehend and interpret observations.
It’s crucial that Parent’s understand the importance of the Observatory Skills of a Caregiver or a Teacher playing a vital role in a child early life, thereby, building a solid foundation for the child's success.
Being a working mother, I can very well relate myself to the worry and anxiety that parents go through while choosing a safe place to keep their child for the entire day which is just not a daycare that provides food and naptime services only, but would care to channelize energy and learning abilities in the right direct.
In an effective day boarding center, parent and teacher work together towards safe, healthy, happy growing and positive learning environment for the children. Family collaboration is an important tool to communicate, understand and create an environment which incorporate the child’s family values and culture and the learning center’s vision, mission.
Effective Curriculum is the nervous
system of any day boarding cum early
learning center. The content of the
curriculum, which comprises of socializing
time, through reading & writing, to craft &
music time, to lunch & screen time, to playtime
& naptime, packing & releasing time, should be
the deciding factor for your child’s enrollment.
What is its epicenter? Academics or the organizational
approach? Academics alone is theoretical or hypothetical;
not practical, vocational or applied. Whereas, organizational
approach is the balanced blend of cognitive, social, language
and literacy, physical, emotional and academic skills
development.
The content of a curriculum should be manifolded. The experiences that a child has between birth and 5 years of age should promote neural connections.
These connections control gross and fine motor development, social skills, and direct interaction with the environment. Children should engage in language-rich activities that help create the needed connections in their brains that build and strengthen these developmental skills.
A wholesome early learning program plays
a key role in enabling the kind of early
learning experiences that research shows
are linked with academic achievement in school,
higher graduation rates and enhanced productivity
in adult life.
All of the domains of a child's
development —physical, social-emotional,
cognitive, language and literacy—are interrelated
and interdependent.
The more limited a child's
experiences with language and literacy the
more likely he or she will have difficulty
learning to read. Early literacy predictors
of reading and school success include oral
language, alphabetic code, and print knowledge.
Education is not filling a pail, but lighting a fire.”
— William Butler Yeats
Definition of literacy is beyond Numbers and Letters.
The learning system today seems to revolve around the
holy grails of math and reading achievement. Schools
are held accountable and graded by students’ test
scores, and more and more classroom time is
dedicated to drilling square roots and vocabulary.
Even as art and music programs fall by the wayside
and recess is dismissed as unnecessary
“play time.” In the midst of these pressures,
child’s behavior problems have left parents
and educators wondering if perhaps our
educational system has missed something
in its one-dimensional pursuit of academic
excellence.
This phenomenon appeared very fascinating and educative to me and the urge to impart and share this style of learning to my people here in Assam made me conceptualize the idea of KidzCareHub. To further broaden my scope of research and observation, I decided to give a formal educational shape along with my enthusiasm and vision. Thereby, I acquired a Certification on Child Development Associate from USA. This enabled me to come up with a well-conceived curriculum content and establish clarity of purpose and a shared vision for early childhood learning.
Beyond Numbers and Letters! Research shows, A wholesome early learning program that includes all of the domains of physical, social, emotional, cognitive, language and literacy experiences, are linked with academic achievement in school and higher education.
Increased demands for program accountability are often heavily focused on assessments of children's early literacy development and highly capable teachers are required to implement today's more challenging curriculum.
With the world going all digital, it has become imperative that we use techniques which are contemporary, informative, accessible and most importantly available in our fingertip!!
Documenting and recording a child’s activity is an important monitoring act both for the child’s evaluation process as well as to ensure the safety and security of the child.
To comply with our mission of providing a HiTech infrastructure, all our homerooms are digital- electronic recording of child’s activities all day and security of the premises.
Over 50 years of research shows that
high-quality Early childhood Learning
in children’s cognitive, social and emotional skills,
increases their educational attainment, closes the
achievement gap, and enhances the quality and
productivity of our nation’s workforce.
An early childhood development center which
is well informed, focused on all round
development of a child, that strives to
formulate an age appropriate prepared
curriculum and driven by quality and passioned
team of teachers and caregivers, plays a vital
role in a child’s life.
